    John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. (JBSS) has an opportunity for an Senior Engineering Manager.

     

    JBSS is an $850+million business in the on-trend and growing nut category that competes across the consumer, commercial ingredients and international channels of trade.  The company produces nuts and nut-based snacks under its own brands (Fisher, Orchard Valley, Hunter Mix and Squirrel Brand) as well as private and contracted brands.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Our Engineering department is staffed with a team of two senior project engineers and four junior project engineers as well as a fabrication area that consist of a manager and eight fabricators.  We employ engineers from companies such as Proctor & Gamble that have graduated from top engineering schools such as University of Illinois.  At JBSS, you will have the opportunity to enhance your career by leading and directing the engineering team to great levels!

     

    We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for our facility in Elgin, IL.  The person in this role will develop and plan programs that meet present and anticipated production space and facility requirements.     Key responsibilities include

    • Utilizes engineering & design skills to direct the efficient design of production lines, equipment, and procedures to effectively run operations.
    • Plans, organizes and schedules design, construction, renovation and repair of manufacturing equipment.
    • Prepares cost estimates for CAPEX projects.
    • Responsible for design floor layouts, production systems and applications.
    • Sources, identifies & negotiates with vendors for products and services that are outsourced. Establish budgets and timeliness for capital projects; manages new equipment purchases & system installations.
    • Supervises, trains, and mentors staff ensuring positive employee relations, high performance and team cohesion.

     

     

    Qualifications

    The candidate we need will have:

     

    • Ten plus years of experience in engineering management within the food industry, preferably the nut or snack food industry.
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering discipline, Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
    • Strong supervisory, project management and delegating skills.
    • Ability to make management recommendations based on evaluation of organization's engineering and maintenance needs.
    • Advanced command of engineering design software: SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
    • Extensive knowledge of materials science.
