  • Overview

    The Cost Accounting Manager will monitor, analyze, and report on costs and variances related to materials, labor, and overhead spending.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Gathers and analyzes information relating to materials, labor, overhead spending and related variances utilizing QAD and Microsoft applications.
    • Assists in the periodic closing process.
    • Prepares ad-hoc reporting for senior management.
    • Ensures standard costs are accurate and updated as necessary.
    • Analyzes production yield, costs, and efficiencies.
    • Creates efficient senior management summaries to highlight findings.
    • Develops and implements procedures in writing to standardize costing and analysis of product output costs.
    • Assists accounting with additional accounting related responsibilities and projects as needed.
    • Ensures cost structures and underlying routings reflect actual activities.
    • Prepares and reports analysis on operational performance and budget variances to strengthen cost controls, reduce costs, and increase efficiencies. Makes recommendations as appropriate.
    • Is responsible for the cost accounting function at all plants.
    • Manages the analysis of inventory related accounts on a monthly basis and ensure all required entries are recorded with the allowed closing time.
    • Analyzes variances and corresponding inventory suspense accounts to determine whether capitalization is appropriate.
    • Assists Operations Management in managing the manufacturing process.
    • Frequently interacts with the Inventory Control function.
    • Monitors actual costs vs. standard costs.
    • Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP and SQF requirements.
    • Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to your manager.

    • Responsible for partnering with others; Sharing knowledge, skills and information within your team and across functional areas.
    • Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree in Accounting or related discipline required
    • Seven plus years of experience in accounting in a manufacturing environment while taking on progressively larger assignments
    • At least three years supervising and leading others
    • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office applications with strong skills in Excel and report generation
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Job Specific Requirements:

    In the event that the Cost Accounting Manager is absent, the Department Manager is responsible for providing an equally qualified person to cover this position.
