  • Overview

    The Quality Supervisor is responsible for assisting management and execution of quality control programs and systems at the JBSS plant in Selma, TX. Supervises the quality control technicians and is responsible for the direction, supervising, training and evaluation of employees.   Supporting the Quality Systems Manager, the Quality Supervisor will provide leadership to assure continuity of quality and food safety programs.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist with the development, implementation, review and maintenance of pre-requisite programs, Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan.
    • Ensure Food Safety Plans are maintained, monitored, verified, validated and kept current and CCP's and pre-requisite programs are monitored, verified and validated as required by the plan. Verification of HACCP documents.
    • Assist in the implementation of quality, food safety, environmental monitoring, sanitation activities and training.
    • Leads plant teams to assure timely closure of all critical CAPA's.
    • Make proactive recommendations and offer solutions to the quality systems manager to improve quality and efficiencies.
    • Communicates and coordinates activities with other shift supervisory staff and operations manager ensuring smooth production work transitions.
    • Participates in regulatory inspections, monthly plant GMP audits and customer and third party audits such as AIB and SQF.
    • Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of production related quality policies, procedures, programs and systems.
    • Provides coverage for critical technician gaps during peak season.
    • Acts as a SQF practitioner & PCQI, assures that a protocol for validating pre-requisite programs and critical food safety and food quality limits is developed, implemented and maintained. 
    • Responsible for growth and development of direct reports.
      • Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP and SQF requirements.
      • Is responsible for resolving maintenance and quality control issues.
      • Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to your manager.
      • Responsible for partnering with others; Sharing knowledge, skills and information within your team and across functional areas.
      • Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.
      • Assists in the development implementing and maintaining Quality and Food safety training.
      • Review Quality and Food safety procedures.
      • Timely disposition of held product.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    Education, Experience & Knowledge:

    • Bachelors of Arts/Science in chemistry, biology, or related field preferred
    • Five plus years' experience supervising quality personnel in a food manufacturing or GMP regulated environment
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel
    • Basic understanding of microbiology
    • Familiar with food safety related programs

    Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:

    • PCQI - Preventive Controls Qualified Individual for Food Safety Plan
    • Certified SQF Practitioner

    Skills & Competencies:

    • Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) preferred
