  • Overview

    The Logistics Coordinator manages and oversees day to day execution of company transportation needs.  Transportation sources can include:  direct carrier, LTL and/or Third-Party Logistics (3PL) relationships.  Freight transportation includes; inter-company, outbound customer shipments (except those managed by customers) and select inbound receipts to exceed service expectations, meeting delivery schedules cost competitively.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Tenders, schedules, and assigns both in-bound and out-bound freight. 
    • Tracks and traces critical, late and lost shipments as needed.
    • Follows up and coordinates the delivery of materials and products, both in-bound and out-bound, especially materials in transit whose existence is considered critical.
    • Assists to negotiate transportation rates in accordance to company guidelines and standards.
    • Assists in analyzing transportation costs, equipment availability, and service levels.
      • Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
      • Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality.
      • Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management.
      • Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills and information within assigned team and across functional areas.
      • Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.


    Education, Experience, and Knowledge:

    • Associate/bachelor's degree in business, operations or related field preferred.
    • One to three years of logistics, freight, traffic, and/or distribution experience especially within the food manufacturing industry preferred.

    Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

    • APICS certified and/or understands the APICS principles.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Good to expert knowledge of supply chain software & Microsoft applications, especially Excel.
    • Self-directed, organized and analytical individual with the ability to solve problems, set priorities and make calculated decisions in stressful situations.
    • Outstanding analytical and communication skills and team attitude.
