    The Operations Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the facility.  The person in this position oversees, monitors, and evaluates operational performance of the facility.  The Operations Manager leads, guides, evaluates, and develops a team of managers and supervisors to ensure that JBSS, Inc. achieves its business objectives and complies with all relevant regulations and laws.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Leads and oversees production, safety, maintenance, sanitation, materials management, distribution (some facilities only) and administrative staff of the facility to ensure efficient, safe and cost effective operation.  Identifies training opportunities and evaluates performance of operations managers and supervisors.
    • Responsible for facility compliance with all relevant regulations and requirements.
    • Partners with key managers to ensure goals are being set and achieved in the following areas: production, quality control, sanitation, customer service levels and continuous improvement activities.
    • Manages implementation of the production plan and ensures the ongoing manufacture of products in planned quantities, at budgeted cost and of desired quality.
    • Responsible for ongoing evaluation of current operational processes, identifies improvement opportunities and implements changes to increase efficiencies and overall profitability.
    • Responsible for handling emergency situations.
      • Responsible for manufacturing, distribution and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
      • Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality.
    • Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management.
    • Responsible for partnering with others; Sharing knowledge, skills and information within assigned team and across functional areas.
    • Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.



    • Bachelor's Degree in Production Management or related field.
    • Five plus years of experience in managing production operations within the food industry.
    • General knowledge of production, safety, equipment maintenance, scheduling, sanitation, warehousing, and quality control.
    • HACCP Certification.
    • SQF Practitioner Certification.
    • Proven leadership, management and administrative skills.
    • Willingness to be flexible to customer, seasonal and staff demands is critical.
