Overview

Responsible for ensuring the compliance of the Safety Program.  Works with personnel throughout the organization to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.  Monitors facility and processes for adherence to OSHA guidelines and the elimination of industrial accidents. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the education of supervisors and managers at their location on Corporate Safety Programs.
  • Maintain local safety training documentation including safety training, monthly safety meetings.  
  • Facilitate Safety Committee meetings, activities, and maintain meeting minutes. 
  • Aid supervisors in accident investigation and completing all required forms.
  • Assist with injury/illness prevention and corrective action.
  • Coordinate the monthly department safety audit.
  • Conduct training with hourly employees on safety programs.
  • Maintain safety communication boards and postings.
  • Assist each department in maintaining the MSDS and chemical list.
  • Stock first aid kits for facility and maintain first aid log.
  • Conduct monthly fire-extinguishers checks.
  • Communicate with corporate Safety Manager on all issues that require specialist attention.
  • Daily facility walk-through of all buildings.
  • Perform initial forklift skill evaluation and recurrent forklift re-training.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to your manager.
  • Responsible for partnering with others; sharing knowledge, skills and information within your team and across functional areas. 
    • Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP and SQF requirements.
    • Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to your manager.
    • Responsible for partnering with others; Sharing knowledge, skills and information within your team and across functional areas.
    • Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, & Knowledge:

 

  • Associates degree plus two years experience in safety/related discipline, or 3 years of continuous safety experience. 
  • Knowledge of OSHA General Industry standard. 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritze workload throughout the day.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is a plus.  Good organization skills and ability to maintain accurate and complete records.
