Materials Manager (Bainbridge)

The Materials Manager provides leadership in the supply chain functions of production planning, materials forecasting, receiving and raw materials, production scheduling and commodity planning. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the development of long term operational resource requirements planning for the facility.
  • Develops rough-cut capacity planning processes and implements best practices in planning and scheduling to ensure better synchronization of the flow of materials and in maintaining accurate inventories.
  • Leads the implementation of manufacturing planning.
  • Coordinates sales/marketing and operations efforts to effectively develop forecasts and processes to manage those forecasts.
  • Develops metrics to measure effectiveness of forecasts, seasonality profiling, execution of the plans/schedules, impact on operational effectiveness and customer service.
  • Identifies and implements strategies to improve local plant inventory control so as to achieve optimum balance of inventory and operating efficiency.
  • Works closely with procurement, inventory control, distribution, production management, sales, marketing, customer service, human resources, ect., to develop innovative processes to continually improve supply chain strategies.
  • Is responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP and SQF requirements.
  • Is responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to your manager.
  • Is responsible for partnering with others; Sharing knowledge, skills and information within your team and across functional areas.
  • Is responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.


  • Bachelor's degree in business management or related field required.
  • Five plus years of experience in materials management or related field required.
  • Strong expertise in capacity requirements planning/master planning, procurement, scheduling and receiving/distribution.
  • ERP systems.
  • Prefer strong lean manufacturing experience.
  • Advanced degree or APICS certification are a plus.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organization skills.
  • Ability to handle a wide variety of duties.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong skills in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
