Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor manages all phases of manufacturing, processing and packaging machinery inclusive of facility building maintenance personnel and day to day manufacturing operations to ensure equipment are maintained and repaired in a cost efficient manner. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages all phases of processing, packaging and facility equipment and staff of technicians, fabricators and building maintenance personnel, etc. including hiring, daily supervision, training, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  • Prepares work, maintenance, and staffing schdule, assigns work appropriately, and ensures services are performed to meet manufacturing and facility needs.
  • Plans, manages and reviews CMMS for preventative maintenance and repair schedules.
  • Manages equipment purchasing and contract services as necessary.  Works with purchasing department on negotiation and any contract work as needed.
  • Makes recommendations to improve efficiencies and reduce down time and labor and over-time expenses.
  • Monitors costs and yearly budget.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA and safety regulations.  Trains staff in safety as necessary.
  • Assists in additional duties and responsibilities as needed.
  • Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, SQF and regulatory requirements.
  • Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality.
  • Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management.
  • Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills and information within assigned team and across functional areas.
  • Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.

Qualifications

  • Ten plus years of experience in maintenance and staff management in the food industry preferred.
  • General knowledge of: plumbing, electric, machine building, PLC's and community codes.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Computer skills including computer maintenance management system (CMMS)/planning, AutoCAD software, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
