Overview

The Shipping Supervisor supervises all shipping personnel and operations including hiring, training, daily direction, and evaluation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with scheduling to schedule all inbound/outbound trucks and makes changes as needed.
  • Oversees and controls all shipping documents.
  • Oversees shipping dock operations.
  • Supervises employees to ensure job is being performed correctly.
  • Makes sure trailers are being loaded and offloaded in a timely manner.
  • Ensures all employees are using proper documents.
  • Counsels employees when performance is not up to standard.  Follows up with corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensures equipment is safe and available daily.  If not, follows up with maintenance.
  • Ensures dock is cleaned and organized daily.
  • Conducts meetings with employees on safety and other topics.
  • Works closely with Inventory control to ensure all receipts are correct and make necessary adjustments.
  • Observes safety rules, GMP’s, and attend appropriate training.
  • Is responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP and SQF requirements.
  • Is responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to your manager.
  • Is responsible for partnering with others; Sharing knowledge, skills and information within your team and across functional areas.
  • Is responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent. 
  • Must have at least two years experience in shipping. 
  • Good math skills. 
  • Excelent computer skills with Microsoft Office application.

 

Job Specific Requirements:

 

In the event that the Shipping Supervisor is absent, the Department Manager is responsible for providing an equally qualified person to cover this position.
