Research & Development Technician

The Research and Development Technician assists the R&D department with sample preparation, 5S activities and product cutting.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Makes, fills, labels and ships samples per food scientist direction.
  • Monitors storage room and removes outdated items.
  • Monitors first production run samples and transfers to warehouse storage as needed.
  • Monitors existing flavor and seasoning.
  • Is responsible for handling simple sample requests, as assigned by Manager.
  • Enters new ingredient samples into incoming ingredient log.
  • Keys in label information for outgoing product samples.
  • Assists with product cuttings - to include grading and sizing of nut varieties and trail mix components.
  • Is responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP and SQF requirements.
  • Is responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to your manager.
  • Is responsible for partnering with others; Sharing knowledge, skills and information within your team and across functional areas.
  • Is responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.


  • Three to five years of experience in the food industry.
  • Experience with nut processing, laboratory technician experience preferred.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Job Specific Requirements:

In the event that the Research and Development Technician is absent, the Department Manager is responsible for providing an equally qualified person to cover this position.
